The Backstory Behind this DLC
The voice of Mutant Football League, legendary VO actor Tim “Boomshakalaka” Kitzrow, previously collaborated with Lil’ Flip on the album Fear of Going Broke.

During that collaboration, Tim asked Flip if he’d ever want to appear in Mutant Football League 2 with his own team. Flip loved the idea.

Tim made the introductions, and soon Lil’ Flip and Michael Mendheim began developing the concept for the Cloverland Kingz.

When Flip shared his vision for the team — and revealed he wanted to create original music for the DLC — we knew we had something special.

Flip brought incredible creativity and authenticity to every aspect of the team’s design, from the players to the stadium to the music.

This partnership not only brings Flip’s energy into the Mutant Football League universe but also introduces the game to a broader, more diverse audience.
HipHopGamer’s beef with Lil’ Flip

Gerard “HipHopGamer” Williams threw some shade toward Lil’ Flip back in February about his team — the GET MONEY GAMERS — who were added to the game earlier this year in a free content update.

“Yo, yo yo! I told you I was coming for you, Flip! It's officially ON,” said Gerard "HipHopGamer" Williams. “HipHopGamer vs. Lil' Flip. You and the Cloverland Kingz are about to be knocked upside down. The Mutant Football League 2 community will decide who's the victor.”
Lil’ Flip fired right back:
“HEY HIP HOP GAMER, I GOT MY OWN TEAM NOW!!! EVERYTHING IS BIGGER IN TEXAS, AND WE GO CRUSH YO TEAM!!! GAME OVER!!!”

Q/A with the MFL Community
Q: Why are we releasing premium Lil’ Flip Cloverland Kingz DLC instead of giving the community new character species like werewolves?
A: When Lil’ Flip says he wants to create original music for Mutant Football League 2, you jump at the chance. Having an icon like Lil’ Flip associated with the MFL brand was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up.
That said, the team has not been focused solely on this DLC.

For those of you playing the game regularly, you know we’ve been working hard to fix bugs and improve gameplay based on community feedback. We’ve released numerous updates since launch and are continuing to develop additional content we believe players will be excited about.

It’s also important to understand that adding a new team is a much smaller development lift than creating an entirely new character species, which requires significantly more art, animation, and gameplay work. New character species must be rebuilt from the ground up to function with the Player Personalization and Dismemberment systems.
Q: Can you add settings in Dynasty Supreme to make the AI more difficult as players improve?
A: Yes — this is something the community has requested and considers important.
We are currently exploring options that would allow players to adjust the AI difficulty while playing Dynasty Supreme.
However, changes like this can affect other systems in the game, including leaderboards and competitive balance, so we want to implement it carefully.
Q: Can you add an option that lets players choose the type of music that plays during the game?
A: Yes. We plan to add an option that lets players choose the musical genre that plays during gameplay. We will likely start with a simple system and then expand it over time based on community feedback.
Q: Will the dev team publish a development roadmap?
A: At the moment, we do not plan to publish a formal roadmap. The reason is simple — we don’t want to promise features publicly and then fail to deliver them due to circumstances outside our control.

There are still many unknowns, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, which affects members of our development team.

Instead, we will continue sharing updates and feature plans once we are confident we can deliver them. There is confidential new content currently in development that we can’t discuss yet, but we believe it will excite the community once revealed.
Q: Can we create and customize our own players for custom teams?
A: This is something we gave serious consideration to while developing the Create-A-Team feature.

Unfortunately, we ultimately had to step away from this idea due to legal considerations.

Because we do not have an NFLPA license, allowing players to freely create athletes that resemble real NFL players could potentially create legal issues for the studio.

While we understand why players want this flexibility, implementing it safely isn’t feasible at this time.
Q: When will you start development on Mutant Hockey League?
A: We saved the most popular question for last.
Mutant Hockey League is absolutely something we would love to develop. It’s currently the #1 most requested project from both the community and gaming media.

Here’s what we can say for sure:
There will NOT be a Mutant Football League 3 before a Mutant Hockey League game. However, right now our full focus is on continuing to improve Mutant Football League 2.
We’re a small, self-funded team, and developing two full games at the same time simply isn’t realistic.

The stronger MFL2 performs, the faster we can reinvest into future projects — including Mutant Hockey League.
Q: How are Sales for MFL2?
A: It’s still early to know for sure. So far, we’ve only received about a month of royalty reports, but based on the limited data we have, sales have been modest.

They’re not yet at the level where we can begin development on something as ambitious as Mutant Hockey League. That said, we remain committed to improving and expanding Mutant Football League 2.

One of the ways we hope to grow the game’s audience is through collaborations and new content like the Lil’ Flip Cloverland Kingz DLC. Expanding the reach of the Mutant League brand is critical to attracting new players.

Whether that strategy succeeds or not, only time will tell — but we’re going to keep pushing forward.
A Note to the Community

First and foremost — thank you.

The passion of the Mutant Football League community is the reason this franchise exists today. We read the forums, the emails, the Discord messages, and the social media posts. Every comment helps us understand what matters most to the people who love this game.

What many players may not realize is that Digital Dreams is a very small team — just six people — working extremely hard to support and improve MFL2. We try to respond to as many questions as possible, but sometimes that means balancing community communication with the work required to actually build and improve the game.
If our responses aren’t always immediate, please know that it’s never because we don’t care. Quite the opposite — we care deeply.

The truth is that no one at Digital Dreams is getting rich from Mutant Football League. This project has largely been a break-even labor of love for the team. We continue working on it because we believe in the game and we believe in the community that has supported Mutant League for over three decades.

Your support truly matters.

If you want to help Mutant Football League continue to grow, the most powerful thing you can do is spread the word about the game — tell friends, share highlights, and follow us on social media. When new players discover MFL, it helps ensure the franchise's future.

Feeling lucky, smudge? Happy (belated) St. Patrick's Day!
Thank you for being part of this crazy, off-the-wall, mutant football family. We appreciate every one of you!
