SUMMER EDITION:
August 2026

Football preseason has begun, and we figured this would be a great time to get everyone caught up on the latest Mutant Football League 2 news and give you a glimpse of what’s coming as we head toward the holidays.

We’ve got a new game update dropping this week, roster updates on the way, PAX West, new DLC, and some other surprises we’re not quite ready to reveal yet.

We’re also including an MFL2 Community Survey to find out what you think about the game and which features are most important to you. Your feedback plays a major role in helping us decide where to focus our development resources.

Last but not least, we’ll answer some of your burning questions in our latest Community Mailbag dump.

MFL2 GAME UPDATE:

Our latest game update is dropping this week. Here are some of the highlights…

* ALL FREE AGENTS ARE NOW UNLOCKED

You guys requested it, and we delivered. All Free Agents are now unlocked in MFL2, which means you can sign any available Free Agent you want in Dynasty Supreme.

* PLAYER CARD COLLECTION – 50% SALARY DISCOUNT

Collecting Player Cards just became a lot more valuable. Any Player Card you collect will now give you a 50% salary discount when signing that player in Dynasty Supreme. This discount also applies when acquiring that player through a trade or signing them as a Free Agent.

* IMPROVED DEFENSIVE AI

We’ve been working hard on improving the defensive AI, and you should find that defenses are now smarter and tougher to score against, especially at higher difficulty levels.

Higher-rated defensive players now play tighter man coverage with improved ball-deflection detection. We’ve also improved zone coverage, with higher-rated defenders reacting much faster when an opposing receiver enters their zone.

We’re not finished improving the defense, but we think it has taken some significant steps forward. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

NEW MFL2 DLC WILL BE UNVEILED AT PAX WEST!

Mutant Football League 2 and Michael Mendheim will be at PAX West 2026, where we’ll be showing off the game and unveiling our latest DLC Pack.

We can’t announce what it is just yet, but we think you guys are going to love it. This is easily the biggest and most ambitious DLC pack we’ve created for MFL2.

The new DLC is scheduled for release in October, but PAX West attendees will be the first players anywhere to get their hands on it.

Lil’ Flip has added 12 new songs from his latest album, WAR PEACE FAMILY FAITH, to the Cloverland Kingz DLC at no additional cost.

HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE OF MFL2

Community surveys help us understand what features and improvements are most important to you — and that helps determine where we focus our development resources.

So please take a few minutes, let your voice be heard, and help us shape the future of MFL2.

TAKE THE MFL2 COMMUNITY SURVEY

https://forms.gle/RRtKbJPbHsDyUmdF9

MFL2 COMMUNITY MAILBAG

Our community managers collect questions from the MFL community, and we answer some of them here — and in our forums.

Q: Are we expecting roster updates with rookies and offseason moves being made?

A: Yes.

We will update all MFL2 rosters to reflect the upcoming 2026 football season. That process has already begun, including assigning the 2026 draft class to their new teams.

We won’t know the final NFL rosters until September. Once those are set, we’ll go into crunch, updating all 32 teams, with the goal of releasing the new rosters by mid-October.

MFL1 rosters will not be updated.

Q: Is there any new information on a Nintendo Switch 2 version of MFL2?

A: We would love to bring MFL2 to Switch 2. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to obtain the development hardware we need to begin working on the port.

We’ll keep trying. If that situation changes, you guys will be the first to know.

Q: If MFL2 comes to Switch 2, will it have online multiplayer?

A: Yes. If we bring MFL2 to Switch 2, our intention is for it to support online multiplayer just like the other versions of the game.

Q: Could you add an option in Quick Play to change the weather and time of day for every stadium?

A: Unfortunately, this isn't something we can easily do. Much of the lighting is baked into each environment, so changing the time of day dynamically would require significant additional work.

Q: Are there plans to add more depth to Money Management in Dynasty Supreme? I had a random event

where one of my mutants sold his soul and I had to bail him out. More stuff like that would be cool.

A: Yes! We’re planning to add some new elements to Dynasty Supreme.

This is also exactly the kind of feature we want your feedback on. Check out the Community Survey and let us know what you’d like to see.

Q: Is there a chance you'll allow unlimited seasons with custom teams in Season and Dynasty Supreme?

A: We don't currently have plans for unlimited seasons in MFL2. An unlimited Dynasty creates significant balancing and testing challenges that we aren't currently equipped to properly support.

That doesn't mean we're finished expanding Dynasty Supreme, though. There are other improvements and additions we're considering.

Q: Will BruiserBots get more customization options, such as different helmets, armor, or even hair?

A: Okay, the robots probably aren't getting hair. They're robots. But you raise a good point about additional helmets, armor, and other customization options for BruiserBots. That's absolutely something we're open to exploring.

If you want more BruiserBot customization, make sure you tell us in the Community Survey.

Q: Would you consider crowdfunding a physical console edition of MFL2?

A: Things are definitely changing in the industry, and it’s sad to see physical games becoming less common.

Unfortunately, we currently have no plans for a physical console edition of MFL2. Manufacturing physical console games requires a significant upfront investment, which can be a risky proposition for a small independent developer.

When we released MFL1 physically, we did so by working with another publisher. If the right opportunity ever presents itself for MFL2, we would certainly consider it.

Q: Back during testing, there were Karnage Koins in the UI. Are there plans for an in-game store where players can purchase customization options or Player Card packs?

A: Originally, yes. Karnage Koins were part of an early concept where players could use coins to acquire Player Cards and character customization items.

However, players understandably didn't know exactly how the system would work, and the reaction was overwhelmingly negative. Roughly 80% of our play testers told us they wanted the coins removed.

So we removed them.

We listened.

Q: If you bring back some of the missing species from MFL1, how will their customization differ from what's already available in MFL2?

A: Our original plan was never to simply recreate every species from MFL1. One of our biggest goals with MFL2 was to make individual players look more unique through customization — different helmets, armor, hairstyles, facial features, chains, glasses, and other equipment.

In MFL1, characters of the same species generally looked the same. In MFL2, two Skeletal Deadheads, for example, can look completely different.

New species also create significant development challenges. A creature with unique anatomy—wings, horns, tails, or other unusual features — may require entirely new equipment, animation considerations, and character assets.

That said…

We ARE working on a new character species for MFL2.

Our current goal is to release it as paid DLC before the end of the year. However, players who don’t purchase the DLC will still have a chance to unlock and play as members of the new species by collecting their Player Cards.

Q: Why release crossover DLC before bringing back some of the missing MFL1 species? Will there be more paid DLC before another species arrives?

A: It's worth remembering that when the original MFL1 was released, it didn't include every species that would eventually become part of the game. Demons, werewolves, and cyber-mutants were introduced later through DLC.

With MFL2, our primary character goal was different: dramatically increase the amount of visual customization available within each species rather than simply recreating the entire MFL1 roster of species.

Yes, we are planning another paid DLC pack before our next character species arrives.

But for everyone waiting for something new to mutate...

Our current plan is to introduce a new character species before the end of 2026!

Q: Could you create a "Mutant Legacy" homage team featuring parodies of classic Mutant League characters like Bones Justice, KT Slayer, and MadMan?

A: Ha ha. We’ve probably explained this one a hundred times, but it's worth repeating.

EA owns the character names from the original Mutant League Football game, while Warner Bros. controls the names and elements created specifically for the animated series. That means we can't simply bring those characters back.

However...

If you look closely at the Free Agent list in MFL2, you might already notice a few characters who seem strangely familiar.

As for an entire "Mutant Legacy" homage team?

That's actually a pretty cool idea.

We'll give that one some serious consideration.

Q: MUTANT HOCKEY LEAGUE WHEN?!?!

A: We get this one a lot.

To be completely transparent, we were hoping MFL2 would sell enough units to allow us to begin development on Mutant Hockey League.

Right now, the numbers make it difficult for us to justify beginning full production on another major sports title.

But we haven't given up on Mutant Hockey.

We love the idea just as much as you guys do.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

ONE LAST THING... THANK YOU!

Before we go, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to the entire Mutant Football League community.

Whether you’ve been with us since the original game, discovered MFL through MFL1, or just joined the insanity with MFL2, we’re incredibly grateful to have you along for the ride.

Your feedback, enthusiasm, support, and wonderfully twisted sense of humor continue to inspire us to make MFL2 bigger, better, and more outrageous.

We’ve got some exciting things coming over the next several months, and we can’t wait to share them with you.

Thank you for believing in MFL, supporting our small team, and keeping mutant football alive.

See you on the field, Mutants!
